Crusty French Baguette Recipe

A simple and fluffy baguette for the days when you stay at home and want to enjoy a delicious bread. This recipe is made at the bread machine but you can do it manually.

Ingredients:

  • 600 g bread flour
  • 350 ml warm water
  • 7 g dry yeast
  • 1 tea spoon salt
  • 2 spoons milk
  • oil for the pan
  • flour for dusting for the pan / pans

Instructions:

  1. Add all ingredients into your bread machine in this order: water, milk, flour, yeast, salt.
  2. Start dough cycle 
  3. Preheat the oven and place a pan of water on the bottom rack
  4. Close the windows and get warm in the kitchen
  5. Sprinkle flour on the work surface
  6. Transfer the dough on the work surface. Divide the dough into equal portions and shape each one into a long loaf .
  7. Place the loaves into a dusty pan.
  8. Cover the pan with a clean towel, placed it in a warm place and allow to rise for 40 minutes (for example: on the cupboard, in the kitchen, above the oven)
  9. Place a pan of water on the bottom rack of the oven.
  10. Sprinkle the baguetts with flour, and make 4 elongated slashes down each one with a sharp knife.
  11. Bake the breads for 30 minutes until crusty and brown .
  12. Remove the pan from the oven, transfer the baguetts to a rack and cover it with a clean towel.
